Prince George's County Dental Nerve Damage Lawsuit
This dental malpractice claim was filed in Prince George's County when a dentist painfully and negligently injected a numbing agent directly inside the root of a woman's abscessed tooth during a tooth extraction procedure. It was filed in Health Claims Arbitration on January 16, 2018, and it is the 23rd medical malpractice case filed in Maryland this year.
Summary of Plaintiff's AllegationsA woman presented to her dentist for a tooth extraction. The tooth was abscessed with a retained root on the lower left side of her mouth. When the dentist attempted to extract the tooth the woman recoiled in pain, so the procedure was terminated and the woman was scheduled to return in two weeks.
During the two-week interval, the woman returned to her dentist's office three times. The dentist prescribed an antibiotic to address her complaints of swelling and numbness. When it came time to reattempt the tooth extraction, the dentist took another set of x-rays, numbed the infected area, and began the extraction. The woman complained of pain in the middle of the procedure. The dentist injected another numbing agent directly into the infected root, causing the woman to scream in agony. She felt a sharp pain in her mouth and face which persisted for several days after the procedure.

Actually commonly understates the case. We give you a ton of recent examples at the bottom of this page. While this case mirrors the average dental malpractice case in many ways, most nerve damage malpractice cases involve much more significant and long-lasting pain and suffering than the damages indicate in this claim.
- Dental malpractice cases are common because dentists just make a lot of mistakes. But it is economically difficult to try them. Most attorneys will not take typical presenting dental malpractice cases because the victims rarely suffer severe and permanent injuries.
